More than 500 paediatricians and child health experts have accused the UK’s Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) of “evading a meaningful response to the worsening situation in Palestine” and have urged it to “publicly condemn the Israeli government” over its attacks on children.
In a letter addressed to the RCPCH president, Steve Turner, and handed to the college on 8 August, child health professionals called the college’s response to the “ongoing killing and maiming of children” in Palestine “inadequate . . . inconsequential and belated” and highlighted its “stated mission to advocate for the health and rights of children globally.”
They also criticised the college’s board of trustees for failing to name “any actors responsible for the ongoing violations of children’s rights” in their statements on the situation.1
