Alcohol treatment services should target health inequalities, say draft guidelines

Clinical services for people with alcohol dependency should focus on equitable access and personalised treatment in order to reduce health inequalities, draft government guidelines have recommended.1

New UK-wide guidelines for treating harmful drinking and alcohol dependence, published for consultation on 16 October,2 aim to develop a clear consensus on best practice and to ensure that interventions recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence are implemented consistently.3
