Blood donation: NHS issues urgent appeal amid “unprecedentedly low” stocks

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has issued an amber alert asking hospitals to restrict the use of O type blood to essential cases and to use substitutions where clinically safe to do so, after stocks of blood dropped to “unprecedentedly low levels.”
