He went to Skipton Grammar School, then to Newcastle to study medicine, where he met his wife, Dorothy.He specialised in obstetrics and gynaecology and following initial training in Newcastle and Cardiff was appointed consultant to Bishop Auckland Hospital in 1975 where he worked as part of a team of three consultants. This was a busy unit and he soon developed a reputation as an excellent clinician and surgeon, being awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1984.Difficulties in junior staffing of small units resulted in Bishop Auckland services moving to Darlington. Roger took early retirement and eventually moved to Bowsden, a small village in north Northumberland. Roger and Dorothy both greatly enjoyed being part of a friendly, close knit community and loved walking in the Cheviot Hills with their dogs.Roger is survived by his wife…
