NHS organisations should face penalties for late rotas

The BMA should negotiate an update to all doctors’ terms and conditions to include a provision that means employers would incur a penalty of one day’s pay or annual leave for “every day beyond a reasonable rota issuance deadline (six weeks prior to commencing a post),” after representatives passed a motion that “employers must be held liable for any financial loss, missed educational opportunities, or loss of annual leave as a result of miscommunication on their part.” Mahmoud Shehab, who proposed the motion, said, “Not only does this motion empower doctors, it also gives parity between doctors and other professions.” …
