GPs and hospital doctors in England get 6% pay increase for 2024-25

GPs and hospital doctors working in the NHS in England will receive a pay increase of 6% for 2024-25, after the government accepted in full recommendations from the Review Body on Doctors’ and Dentists’ Remuneration (DDRB).1

The BMA said that the award was an early sign that the new Labour government was beginning to recognise the value of doctors but that GPs would be disappointed by the uplift.

Philip Banfield, the BMA’s chair of council, said that along with above-inflation pay deals for consultants and specialist, associate specialist, and specialty (SAS) doctors agreed in April and June,23 the 6% rise “starts to set doctors on the right path towards restoring the lost value of pay from the last 15 years.”
